This documentary follows the journey of a Korean American woman who was adopted to the United States over forty years ago as she searches for her biological parents. While her personal search ultimately remains unresolved, the process reveals profound gaps and systemic failures within South Korea’s overseas adoption system of that era. Confronted with the disappearance and distortion of personal records, she transforms her individual loss into collective action—advocating for reform while helping reconnect other adoptees with their biological families. In doing so, the film captures a series of extraordinary reunions that unfold alongside her own unanswered questions. Beginning as an intimate search for identity, the documentary expands into a broader inquiry into institutional responsibility, historical accountability, and the lives shaped by missing records.
The film received the Program of the Month Award from the Korea Communications Standards Commission and won the Gold Remi Award (TV Special – Dramatic) at the Houston International Film Festival.
